Description
If you're ready to put your skills to work in a true multi-specialty surgical suite, Maine Veterinary Medical Center wants to meet you. We're looking for a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Surgical Technician to join our surgery department. In a setting where every second in the OR matters, this role is essential to keeping patients safe and procedures running smoothly. You'll work closely with our surgeons and surgical team to deliver the kind of precise, attentive care our patients depend on.Maine Veterinary Medical Center (MVMC) is a VECCS level two certified Rarebreed practice that has full in-house laboratory capabilities, a fluoroscopy suite for interventional procedures, a GE 64-slice CT, MRI, respiratory ventilator, in-house telemetric monitoring, ultrasound and endoscopy. MVMC is a multi-specialty hospital offering services in Emergency & Critical Care, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, and Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine. Veterinary Technician - Surgery
Maine Veterinary Medical Center in Scarborough, ME
$32.00-$38.00 per hour based on experience
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Assist veterinarians in advanced surgical procedures including orthopedic, soft tissue, and emergency surgeries
- Prepare patients for surgery, including anesthesia induction, catheter placement, and pre-operative assessments
- Monitor anesthesia throughout procedures, ensuring patient safety and appropriate pain management
- Maintain sterile technique and support surgical suite preparation and turnover
- Operate and maintain surgical and monitoring equipment
- Perform post-operative care, including recovery monitoring and patient support
- Accurately document anesthetic events, treatments, and surgical records
- Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient surgical flow and exceptional patient care

REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year previous experience in a veterinary or animal handling role required
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude
- Able to multi-task
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Credentialed candidates (LVT, CVT, or RVT) are strongly desired for this role
