Veterinarian – Create Your Own Career Path at the ARL
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) is expanding our veterinarian team, and we’re looking for a compassionate, motivated Veterinarian to join our dynamic team either in shelter or at one of our privately owned veterinary clinics. Whether you’re a new graduate eager to build skills, or a veterinarian looking to expand your expertise in a unique and mission-driven environment, the ARL offers a rare opportunity to shape your own professional journey whether that is working in surgery, shelter medicine, large animals at the ranch, or in clinic medicine.
What Makes the ARL Different With seven full-time, experienced veterinarians on staff, you’ll have access to hands-on mentorship, clinical guidance, and the freedom to explore what excites you most. Want to sharpen surgical skills? Dive deeper into shelter medicine? Gain experience with horses, livestock, or other large animals? You can build a customized career path here shaped with the opportunity to experience multiple facets of veterinary medicine. At the ARL Afford-a-Care Pet Clinics, privately owned and operated by the ARL, patient care is at the center of the work we do. The ARL does not operate on a productivity or commission-based model and is looking for veterinarians to join the team who align with the mission of the work we do in providing affordable and essential care to pets in our care, whether at one of our shelter or clinic locations.
You’ll also enjoy competitive market driven compensation, an expansive holiday and paid time-off policy, and paid parental leave designed to support your well-being and work–life balance, and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees' health and financial well-being. Veterinarians working at the ARL are at-will and are not bound to a contract. You’ll be part of a mission-driven culture where your work has a meaningful impact on animals and the community every day.
