Associate Veterinarian – Urgent Care, Surgery & Hospitalized Case Management (Cats Only)
Full-Time (32 hrs/week) or Part-Time | Just Cats Clinic | Reston, VA

Just Cats Clinic is seeking a veterinarian who enjoys urgent care, surgery, and managing hospitalized patients in a structured, well-supported environment. This role offers ER-style medicine with stable cases only—no ICU or critical overnight management.

 
What You’ll Do
Manage urgent care cases (vomiting, obstruction rule-outs, UO, etc.)
Oversee stable hospitalized patients (max 6 cases)
Perform soft tissue surgery
Manage cases from admission through discharge
Provide overnight on-call support (primarily phone-based; occasional in-hospital visit if needed)
 
Schedule
Full-Time = 32 hours/week
Typically 3 x 12-hour shifts (varies)
Clinic open 365 days/year
Rotating weekends and holidays
No scheduled overnight shifts
Low-frequency, support-based on-call for your hospitalized cases
 
Compensation
Option 1: Base + Production

$160,000 – $185,000 base
23% production (no negative accrual)
Option 2: Hourly

$150/hour
On-Call Compensation

$250 per case requiring after-hours doctor involvement

Practice Overview
Just Cats Clinic is a privately owned, feline-only hospital in Reston, VA, open 365 days a year to provide comprehensive, continuous care. We are AAHA-accredited and a Cat Friendly Practice (Gold level), with a strong focus on low-stress handling and high-quality, individualized medicine.

Our services include primary care, dentistry, soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, urgent care, and overnight hospitalization for stable patients. We are equipped to manage cases from routine wellness through advanced diagnostics while maintaining a controlled, supportive environment with capped caseloads and dedicated overnight staff.

Current Virginia Veterinary License

Preferred minimum of 3 years of ER or Urgent Care Experience, but willing to train the right candidate
