East Hill Veterinary Clinic
If you’re a veterinarian who wants to practice great medicine and surgery without burning out, keep reading.
East Hill Veterinary Clinic is a privately owned (NON-CORPORATE), long-established small animal practice in Mendocino County. We’re looking for an associate who values quality medicine, a functional team, and a life outside of work. Owner is a 2004 Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine graduate and part time associate is Midwest Veterinary graduate.
What the job actually looks like:
4-day work week
30-minute appointments
No weekends
No on-call, no emergency
Two-doctor practice with collaborative case management
Mentorship that starts on day one and continues as needed (not performative, not hierarchical)
Compensation & benefits
$135,000/year salary
$6,000 medical/dental stipend
4% matched 401(k)
CE allowance (flexible, based on your interests)
One month PTO — take it however you want
Pet care at cost +10%
No non-compete
Buy-in opportunity is genuinely available
The practice: we work in a comfortable 4,800 sq ft, well-equipped facility with:
Large four table treatment room
Four exam rooms
Two surgical suites
Digital and dental radiology
Ultrasound with live consult support
Endoscopy (rigid and flexible; we can get into any orifice)
Full in-house lab, including digital cytology
Complete monitoring (ECG, Doppler, pulse ox, etc.)
TonoVet
Paperless workflow (Cornerstone + ScribeNote)
Full-service grooming Salon
We provide medical, surgical, and dental care for the Humane Society for Inland Mendocino County, and we take that responsibility seriously, so we get a mix of general private practice plus soul quenching shelter work.
The team:
Experienced, stable staff (many here 10–15+ years)
2 RVTs, 3 veterinary assistants, 4 receptionists, a manager, a groomer, and a dedicated cleaner
Cross-trained so people can take breaks and time off without everything falling apart
Competent, direct, and low-drama
The clients: we have a clear policy: if a client is disrespectful to staff, they are no longer a client. This is enforced consistently. It makes a difference for our mental health.
The location: Mendocino County offers a mix of rural life and access:
Redwoods, hiking, and open space
Wineries and a strong local food scene
The Skunk Train runs through town
About an hour to the coast
One hour to Santa Rosa, 20 minutes to Ukiah for shopping
Who this works for:
A veterinarian who wants to practice thoughtfully, not rush through cases
Someone who values a stable, experienced team
Someone who prefers straightforward communication over corporate messaging
Someone who plans to stay, and potentially own
If you’re looking for a high-functioning practice with realistic expectations and room to grow, we should talk.
