Description
Byram Animal Hospital is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Full Time Veterinary Technician/Surgery Technician to our team. At our Rarebreed clinic, you can help reimagine the veterinary experience in your community. As part of our team, you'll work with the latest technology and collaborate with a positive team to deliver the highest quality of care to the pet patients we all love.Byram Animal Hospital is located at 8 Route 206 North in Byram Township, NJ (approx. 1.2 mile north of Route 80). Founded in 1996, Byram Animal Hospital offers a range of veterinary services, and our professional and courteous staff seek to provide the best possible medical care, surgical care and dental care for their patients. We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative health care and health-related educational opportunities for our clients.
Full Time Veterinary Technician/Surgery Technician
- Appointments-assisting the Doctors
- Take patient histories from clients for appointments
- Technician appointments such as nail trims
- Performing blood draws
- Collecting urine samples
- Filling prescribed medications
- Keeping cages clean and sanitized
- Various housekeeping duties (laundry, dishes, taking out garbage, etc.)
- Communicating with clients via phone and in-person
- Restraining animals
- Executing treatment orders
- Clean exam rooms, counters, floors, kitchen, treatment, vacuum, empty trash as needed
- Canine and Feline vaccine knowledge and schedule
- Ensure that clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable
- Demonstrate excellent relations with clients/pets in waiting and/or exam rooms
- Keep clients informed of expected delays and wait times
- Answers telephone calls quickly, efficiently and in a professional and friendly manner using a multi-line system
- Prepares patient files and charts
- Receives and relays client correspondence and updates client financial records
- Answers client's inquiries about basic animal care questions and routine procedures
- Educates clients on over-the-counter products such as flea and tick preventions
- Handles invoices and payment transactions
- Receives and relays telephone, fax, and email messages accurately and promptly
- Maintain appointment schedule, set appointments with complete information, monitor schedule for accuracy, confirmation of appointments, follow-up on missed appointments, and input of new client data into appointment schedule program
- Maintain accuracy with cash drawer, credit card-scratch pay and CareCredit transactions
- Flexibility in working hours is required to ensure that the job is done properly
- Dependable attendance is required
- Maintain the cleanliness of the front office area, ensuring all proper supplies are stocked adequately; follow daily task checklist
- Follow hospital cleaning checklists
- This position requires the ability to sit, walk, squat, bend, stand, reach, li ft and type
- follow up appointments
- Monitor anesthesia for patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures
- Perform routine and advanced treatments and procedures, including injections, oral medications, blood draws, basic pharmacology and bandaging
- Provide comfort, love, and a skilled hand to patients
- Support the hospital team to provide exceptional care for pets and their owners
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician/Surgery Technician is a must
- Significant experience with basic office functions in a busy office environment
- Must be a team player and have compassion for pets and their people
