Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists is looking for an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

Join Our Surgery Team
Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our growing specialty team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.
In this role, you will work alongside skilled surgeons and a highly trained surgical support team, assisting with a wide range of advanced procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for a technician who enjoys complex cases, values teamwork, and wants to fully utilize their technical and anesthesia skills in a specialty setting.
Our surgery technicians play a critical role in patient safety, surgical efficiency, and exceptional peri-operative care.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare patients for surgery including pre-anesthetic assessment and surgical site preparation
- Induce, maintain, and monitor anesthesia for a variety of advanced surgical procedures, including managing constant rate infusions (CRI) and utilizing mechanical ventilation when indicated.
- Assist surgeons during procedures while maintaining strict sterile technique
- Closely monitor patient vitals and anesthesia throughout procedures and recovery
- Provide attentive post-operative monitoring and nursing care
- Prepare and maintain surgical suites, instruments, and sterile packs
- Perform in-house diagnostics including radiographs, bloodwork, and other testing as needed
- Maintain detailed anesthesia records and medical documentation
- Communicate with clients regarding surgical admissions, discharges, and patient updates
- Collaborate with veterinarians and hospital staff to ensure smooth workflow and excellent patient outcomes
