Responsibilities

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our veterinarians and licensed technicians while ensuring a positive client and patient experience.


Clinical & Patient Care

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with exams, treatments, and procedures
• Properly restrain patients using low-stress handling techniques
• Prepare exam rooms and surgical suites
• Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures
• Perform basic laboratory tasks (fecals, ear cytology, sample preparation).
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed

Surgical & Hospital Support

• Prepare surgical packs and maintain sterile technique
• Assist with anesthesia monitoring under supervision
• Clean and sterilize instruments
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and organization

Client Communication

• Provide clear discharge instructions
• Educate clients on preventative care and treatment plans
• Deliver compassionate service during emotionally sensitive visits

Qualifications

• 1+ year of veterinary assistant experience preferred (general practice experience ideal)
• Knowledge of basic animal handling and restraint
• Familiarity with veterinary terminology
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospital setting
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• High school diploma or equivalent required
