The Future of Veterinary Medicine 

We’re building the future of veterinary medicine at the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center, thanks to our transformative Gift of Love campaign to expand and enhance our clinical, educational, and research capacities. Construction is currently underway to add 37,000 square feet of new and renovated space, ensuring AMC is at the forefront of veterinary medicine for generations to come. 

Join the Special Care Unit

  • Must be able to interpret and execute treatment directives given by veterinarian
  • Will be required to operate and/or monitor Heska and syringe pumps, Cardell blood pressure monitors, Doppler monitors and blood gas machines
  • Must be able to place jelco and sampling catheters, collect blood samples
  • Required to update patient records and monitor patient activity using Cornerstone
  • Maintain stock and order supplies
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining cleanliness of ward and would be required to participate in the training of new employees and volunteers

Qualifications:

  • Must have NYS Veterinary Technician’s license
  • Candidate must be able to work successfully as part of a team and autonomously with the ability to remain composed in stressful situations
  • Strong skills in phlebotomy, peripheral catheter and central line placement, anesthesia protocols, anesthesia monitoring, and post operative care preferred
  • Individuals must be flexible about working additional hours when necessary and have the willingness and determination to remain on the cutting edge of veterinary anesthesia
  • Ability to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds
